AkzoNobel- Innovation Campus

The Project

To create a promotional video for AkzoNobel’s R&D ‘Innovation Campus’ which had just been built in Felling. The video was to show its construction process as well as highlighting what the campus allowed them to do and why that was so special.

The complex was a €12.6 million investment with state-of-the-art facilities to keep them at the forefront of the coatings industry.

The Process

Construction was an 18-month process. Time-lapse cameras were set up around the site to capture it all. Doing so made for a great montage of it enduring the Beast from the East’s harsh snows as well as long, boiling summer days.

This also gives testament to the durability of our cameras which also had to survive these extreme weather conditions.

The complex was ground-breaking, securing the future of innovation at Felling, so the video needed to show how. Its story was told by combining interviews with smooth sliding shots of the new facilities, equipment and office space. This helped capture the essence of the campus whilst the relevant interviewees delivered context.

We used our Sony fs700 with slider to achieve the continuous gliding shots seen throughout the video. Using this technique really emphasises the appeal of facilities and keeps the viewers engaged.
